Join us for this week's Campaigner Check-Ins (formerly Grassroots Shares).

This week we'll be taking a look at what happened last week with the Downing Street Hand-In of our Three COP Outcomes open letter. We'll also be sharing some ideas on how you can spend COP if you're staying at home this November.

Ahead of the crucial COP26 talks in Glasgow next week, over 70 scientists, 51 parliamentarians, NGOs and businesses have signed Zero Hour's Three COP Outcomes We Can't Live Without open letter to Prime Minister Johnson.

The open letter called for three policies:

  1. Creating a joint emergency strategy for climate and nature
  2. Committing to the carbon budget for 1.5°C, and
  3. Going nature positive by 2030.

We set out these key recommendations in our report—Three COP Outcomes We Can't Live Without—which we recently launched with Prof. Sir David King (Centre for Climate Repair, Cambridge University), Prof. EJ Milner-Gulland (Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science, Oxford University) and Prof. Kevin Anderson (CUSP, Surrey University). Please click here to read the report, and click here to watch the report launch event.

Last week we delivered the open letter to Downing Street, joined by Steven Farry MP, Lord Oates, Baroness Bennett, Geraint Davies MP, Nadia Whittome MP, Daisy Cooper MP, Niharika Manu, Caroline Lucas MP, Baroness Sheehan, Baroness Jones, Dr George McGavin, Nick Slape, Dr Husna Ahmad OBE, Prof Dan Lunt and Tony Lloyd MP.

At Wednesday's session we'll be unpacking everything that happened, including last Thursday's debate on COP26 & limiting temperature rise to 1.5C.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

James
